A suspected bomb-making facility has been successfully destroyed in Anambra State following a targeted raid by security force. The operation, took place in the Ihiala Local Government Area.
According to a statement released by Tochukwu Ikenga, police spokesperson in Anambra, the raid was a collaborative effort involving various security agencies.
He said the forces swooped on the location believed to be used for the creation of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
He added that on of the IEDs buried around the camp exploded during the operation, causing some damage to the road.
“The IED acted as a shield to prevent the Joint Forces from accessing the facility. Meanwhile, no life was lost during the operation,” he said.
“To this end, the security forces have sustained the operational security dominance and advancement aimed at fully reclaiming the area from the criminals.”
During the operation, a large quantity of explosive materials, bomb components, and bomb-making equipment were recovered.
Authorities have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for operating the illicit factory and to determine their broader network and intentions.
This successful operation underscores the ongoing commitment of security agencies to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents in Anambra State.
